Islamic Council

Guidance, mediation and judgement for Muslim families

Whether you need advice you can trust, a ruling on your situation, or formal certification — every case is heard in confidence by qualified scholars.

When you need a decision, not just advice

Where a matter calls for it, the Council does not simply advise — it rules, and issues the documentation that follows.

A clear process, from first contact to outcome

1

Tell us what has happened

Apply online with a brief summary of your situation. Nothing is shared with anyone else.

2

We confirm your appointment

If we take the case on, we call you to agree a time that suits — online or, where warranted, in person.

3

Speak with a scholar

A private session of up to an hour, where a qualified scholar hears your circumstances in full.

4

Receive clear guidance

You leave knowing where you stand and, where the matter requires it, with formal documentation in hand.

A council, not a helpline

Islamic Council was established by scholars, imams and community leaders. Every adviser serves as an imam in their own community, and cases that require a ruling are heard by a panel. Our certificates and verdicts are recognised where an Islamic ruling is required.

Most appointments are held online. Face-to-face sessions at our London offices can be arranged where warranted.

Documentation we issue
  • Talaaq, khula' and faskh certificates
  • Affirmation of a past divorce
  • Verdicts of judgement
  • Wali appointments
  • Written fataawa

If you cannot afford the fees

Islamic Council runs on a non-profit basis, and fees are set only to cover the work. If they are beyond your means, apply to our hardship fund — every application is assessed on its own circumstances.

Finance, wills & inheritance

Zakah, investments, business matters, wills and inheritance disputes are handled by Islamic Finance Advisory. Visit ifadvisory.org →
