Arbitration & Judgement
Bring a dispute before the Council and have it heard, weighed and ruled upon.
Where to begin
Where two parties cannot resolve a matter between themselves, the Council will hear both sides and issue a judgement.
This is adjudication rather than advice: the scholars examine the evidence, hear each party, and reach a decision recorded in a written verdict.
What we handle
Family & household disputes
Disagreements within families that have reached the point of needing an outside ruling.
Custody of children
Rulings on the Islamic custody of children following separation.
Validity of a nikah
A formal determination where the validity of a marriage is disputed.
Who this is for
Parties to a non-financial dispute who want it settled properly, by scholars, rather than left to fester or taken somewhere neither side will accept.
How it works
Tell us what has happened
Apply online with a brief summary of your situation. Nothing is shared with anyone else.
We confirm your appointment
If we take the case on, we call you to agree a time that suits — online or, where warranted, in person.
Speak with a scholar
A private session of up to an hour, where a qualified scholar hears your circumstances in full.
Receive clear guidance
You leave knowing where you stand and, where the matter requires it, with formal documentation in hand.
Before you apply, please know
- All parties to the dispute must attend before a verdict can be issued.
- The Council aims to conclude within the first session; complex cases may need further sessions, quoted after the first.
- In some cases the Council may be unable to reach a resolution, depending on the information presented or other factors outside our control.
